Roadrunner Records celebra i suoi oltre 30 anni di successi heavy metal e hard rock con “XXX: Three Decades of Roadrunner Records”, box set esclusivo con il quale ripercorrere la storia della musica grazie ad alcuni dei migliori brani di artisti leggendari.
L’ esclusivo box set contiene 54 brani su 4 CD in uscita in Italia il 1 ottobre.
Le note di accompagnamento all’opera sono state affidate allo storico giornalista metal Chris Dick, con citazioni di alcune delle più importanti figure di Roadrunner, tra cui Cess Wessels, fondatore dell’etichetta, Monte Conner, straordinario e mitico A&R e da artisti come King Diamond, Max Cavalera (Sepultura/Soulfly/Cavalera Conspiracy), Matt Heafy (Trivium), Mikael Åkerfeldt (Opeth) e Joey Jordison (Slipknot).
Il primo disco : “Foundations” racchiude i successi dei primi anni dell’etichetta con brani ultra-heavy di artisti come Mercyful Fate, Carnivore, Deicide, Brujeria, Suffocation, Biohazard e Type O Negative.
Il secondo disco “Horns Up” contiene tutti i successi degli artisti più importanti dell’etichetta della scena degli anni ’90 come Slipknot, Machine Head, Sepultura, Coal Chamber e Fear Factory.
Il terzo disco “And Metal For All” porta l’ascoltatore dagli anni 2000 fino ai giorni nostri con brani dei Killswitch Engage, Trivium, Dream Theater, Opeth, Gojira. Il cd contiene anche una traccia del 2005 del Roadrunner United (un gruppo di artisti della Roadrunner nato per festeggiare il 25º anno dalla fondazione dell’etichetta discografica).
Il quarto disco “Rock For The Ages” si concentra sulle band hard rock più rappresentative dell’etichetta con brani di artisti come Rush, Nickelback, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Theory Of A Deadman, Airbourne, Black Stone Cherry e Korn feat Skrillex.
Il box set non contiene soltanto una pagina della storia della Roadrunner ma del metal in sé. Testimonia la trasformazione e l’evoluzione negli anni sia del metal che dell’hard rock e che la Roadrunner è sempre stata e continua ad essere un punto di riferimento per il genere.
